Reflections

On tools and practices
Regarding the creative process. For as long as I can remember, I ve been more interested in the tools and methods of creating than in the final result itself. My main concern through the years was a vast exploration of different software, hardware, and digital workflows. From the simplicity of Windows Paint buckets to the complexity of node-based visual programming, renderings, post-production VFX, and plugin libraries.

Beyond the act of creating, what fascinates me most is how I create, the ways we use technologies we have, and how this different techniques profoundly impact the final aesthetic; in how my body behave, how my mind reflects on it.

Last night, I did a dual exploration of digital sculpting. I first used a classic iPad, mixing pen and finger pressure. Later, I shifted to VR sculpting. The first feeling was of plasticity and molding. In the second I was using the space to freely move.

Hence the reflection on the modalities of creation, that bring an understanding that new tools can bring different ways of expressing.

Starting from a software driven aesthetic in an age hyper saturated by image and fast productive AI workflows, I question what else is there still to explore, perceive, express in embodied modalities that can result in different techniques and practices aknowledging the physical body in correspondence to technological use.

This initiative of artistic investigation has a hope of bringing different fields together, with a community oriented approach, towards dialogues and the development of tools and creations.
